WOW!! how busy have the phones been this week for car hire. Easter is a very popular time for travel especially domestic. Unfortunately we have had to tell some of our customers that we cannot provide a vehicle for the holidays. The 8 seat Toyota Tarago or Kia Carnival have been snapped up with such speed that by Monday the East coast was booked out.
Some depots stil have cars available, so dont dispear pick up the phone and give us a call you never know we may just be able to organise a miricle!!!!

Kieran Perkins Loves Vroom Vroom Vroom
One of the greatest
Kieren Perkins is one of the greatest swimmers in history! During a
sparkling career, Perkins broke 12 world records and became the first person
to hold the Olympic, World, Commonwealth and Pan-Pacific titles
simultaneously. Australian records fell with regularity when Perkins
entered the pool - he broke over 40 of them and is without doubt one of the
greatest Australian athletes of all time.
This shot was taken just out side of Sydney, Australia. Kieran used Vroom Vroom Vroom for his car rental and agreed to a fun photo with our logos.

Bush Fire Appeal
Everyone in the Vroom team have been deeply touched by the tragedy of the Black Saturday bushfires. With so much destruction and so many lives lost its was an easy decision for the team to make, to offer some kind of help. Between Monday 9th and Friday 13th February Vroom will be donating a portion of all confirmed Australian car rentals to the Red Cross Appeal. On Monday those who can donate blood out of the team will be doing so.

Vroom Fun at Dream World
This is what happens when you have a very cool boss!
The Australian Vroom team went to Dream World for a day of fun.
Some of us were brave some decided to chill but we all enjoyed our day out!
The claw was without a doubt the most popular ride, the girls didn't dare try the giant drop but all the boys said it was indeed a giant drop.
We dispensed candy canes to fellow Dream World goers. The kids were impressed some adults thought "stranger danger" nevertheless hundreds of candy canes were gone in 15 minutes.
Yatla Pie was the next stop, we now know why they are so popular... they are really really really yummy!

I just read this post and thought it summed up very nicely the relationship between poker and running a company. It's written by CEO of Zappos.com, Tony H.
EVALUATING MARKET OPPORTUNITIES
* Table selection is the most important decision you can make.
* It's okay to switch tables if you discover it's too hard to win at your table.
* If there are too many competitors (some irrational or inexperienced), even if you're the best it's a lot harder to win.
MARKETING AND BRANDING
* Act weak when strong, act strong when weak. Know when to bluff.
* Your "brand" is important.
* Help shape the stories that people are telling about you.
FINANCIALS
* Always be prepared for the worst possible scenario.
* The guy who wins the most hands is not the guy who makes the most money in the long run.
* The guy who never loses a hand is not the guy who makes the most money in the long run.
* Go for positive expected value, not what's least risky.
* Make sure your bankroll is large enough for the game you're playing and the risks you're taking.

2008 Fast 500 Deloitte Awards in Hong Kong
Vroom Vroom Vroom won an Award at the 2008 Fast 500 in Hong Kong. We achieved an incredible 388% growth over the past 3 years to achieve position 136 (up from 210 last year). Peter Thornton, Richard Eastes and David Eastes all took the journey to Hong Kong to accept the Award.

Bravehearts Mower-thon
Last Saturday morning the Vroom Team set out to see Claude Harvey embark on his fundraising venture from the Gold Coast to Sydney. This AMAZING man is raising money for Bravehearts who help children who are the victims of sexual abuse. He will be pushing his lawn mower, stopping at various towns along the way. We had the pleasure of meeting with Claude and the Bravehearts crew for morning tea before he set off. We also had the priviledge of a guided tour of their new head office currently under construction.
After the formalities we got back in our bus and headed for the beach - out came the footy and the frisby for a bit of fun. Followed by fish and chips at the park - what a great day out!!! Who was silly enough to lose their car keys at the beach??? Dave.....

How puzzling???
Last week Dave decided it might be a good idea to put our brains to the test and buy a puzzle! He threatened 5000 pieces but thankfully came back with only 1000... The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are slowly taking shape. Everyone has managed to get confused, elated, frustrated and perplexed all at once. We are down to the final stages, only the hard stuff is left... you got it the sky and the water!!!!! Help!!!
